How to use Mirage

Chrome only (138+). Tell Mirage what should change. It shows you a draft. You Apply when you like it.

Before you start

Chrome only (138+). Other browsers are not supported yet. Pin Mirage. Turn on Allow User Scripts for Mirage. Sign in with Google, and accept the privacy policy.

What Mirage will not do

No paywall removal. If you ask to unlock an article or skip a login, it refuses.

Mirage is not an ad blocker. If you ask to hide ads or a sponsored post, that is your change, the same as asking to hide a sidebar. You ask. You Apply.

Create

You are on a site. Type what should change.

Targeted prompts work better than vague ones. Say what to hide, when it should happen, or how the page should feel, instead of “make YouTube nicer.” Mirage can restyle a site, hide pieces of it, restructure a layout, or change how it behaves.

If the look is a big visual shift, attach a reference. Generate an image of the vibe you want, or screenshot the part of the page you mean, and send that with the prompt. First try is often close, not final.

If you need Mirage to change one exact thing on the page, tap + next to the prompt, choose Inspect, then click that element. Mirage gets the real target.

Sometimes Mirage asks Use page details. Use page details when the change needs more than what is on screen, like a date the page never shows, or a custom list. Skip if you do not want that. Either way, Create still runs.

Mirage shows a summary. Nothing runs on the page until you press Apply. Then that look is on this site for you. You can turn it off later.

To tweak the same look: Refine on the draft, or keep talking in this chat. For a different request, another site, or an independent look, open a New chat. One chat, one look.

Things to try:

  • A button to toggle YouTube Shorts
  • Make X a colorful 90s game
  • Add a vinyl player to Spotify that can control the audio timeline
  • Hide promotional emails
  • Create a small companion in the bottom left when I am on the site

Import

Bring in userscripts you already have. Open Gallery, then Import. Paste a script, drop a file, or a Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey backup. It lives with your other looks in Gallery.

Library

Premade looks from the Mirage team for sites we cover. Pick one and Apply. We are going to add looks from the community here as well.

History

The clock in the header. Reopen an old chat and its look, then Refine it. Start a New chat when you want a fresh look.
